So FINALLY here is the commission for the band Wax Fang screened on the Branchage festival and Sexbeat stage at the Stage and Dagger festival in Shoreditch back in May!
Five film makers who are involved in the brilliant Branchage film festival in Jersey were asked to pick one of the bands and make a short film for each performance for an evening of live music and projections over three screens.
While I wait for the powers that be to restore the audio here is what I made.

Saw a few people running round the high street with roll mats tucked into back packs buying wet wipes which only means one thing, Glastonbury and for the first time in years I'm actually really gutted I'm not going because its looks to be legendary as its officially SUNNY! and not like living in the trenches but also the 40 year anniversary, Stevie Wonder headlining and just to bind everyone together if your haven't already told your mates and a few strangers you love them there's an world cup England v's Germany match on Sunday which I've totally been sucked into god-dam-it. Ingredients for a seriously fun time.

Spent yesterday in the studio without my laptop which means no music until i remembered what real life was like before this guy, duh. So dusted off the selection of tape players we have hanging around and a plastic bag of un-marked tapes but beautifully designed cassette covers and was reminded of not only some forgotten tunes but how much fun not knowing what the next track was gonna be.

Also found a cd a guy gave me at the Brooklyn Flea Market back in Feb in the back of an old note pad and was reminded how much I like this video.

Been a bit off track with the postings of late due to losing my digi camera which normally is always at arms reach.I miss that guy. So back to my stalwart of a film camera which has a pace of its own.

So in the mean time here is a still from a film I made last week for the Stag and Dagger Festival for the Branchage and Sexbeat stage on Brick Lane last Friday.
It was screened as part of a live show for the band Wax Fang, all the way from Kentucky Louisville who had just played ATP with Pavement.
It will be on line to watch with a track from the band on the Sexbeat website as of next week. x x

Contact Collective Screening

Out on the toon last night to have a little peek at some new photography work organised by the lovely Emily and Anna from Contact Collective. The slide show was in someones ace flat by the Old street bridge which made a pleasant change from the often austere white wall/strip lighting Gallery scenario.
The flat was packed. Flatpack!
We all crowded round the kitchen table to look at some prints for sale, wine and beer was served from the fridge next to the washing machine and everyone hung around to lol about on sofas to watch the work in comfort. A really relaxed affair, no blue steels which always helps, a really refreshing experience. House Galleries are the new House parties! If its good enough for Nan Goldin, its good enough for us. All round to ours then. x

Saturday night started off with good intentions but a few beers at Jons and then a bit of a sleepy bus ride home and then, danger danger- a little lie down at 10pm.
Woke up at 1am,oh dear. But thankfully some partys cater to such late noctural desires as Smoking and drinking and dancing all at the SAME TIME till 6 in the morning. Just like the ol'days eh?

ah mate, check this out. The shop on the kingsland high street has surpassed itself with this one. If your looking to turn down the lights and turn up the heat in the bedroom department in a late 80's smoke and mirrors kinda way this shop is a sure thing. I couldn't work out if this was a novelty kids bed but it actually looks like a double and if you listen carefully it sounds just like a golf.

Who have we got hear then?! this feel on my head stretching for some envelopes at home the other day. This was taken back in 2002 (!)in Brighton by the extremely lovely fashion photographer Jason Evans for some German magazine, it was a nice story actually. At the time I remember Jason directing the guy behind me with the pink board to keep moving the square higher, he must have been well annoyed, bet his mum was still proud though.

A big big Happy Birthday to both Fred and Verity!!! who embraced a new decade of colour and excitement on Friday at their joint birthday party. Actually haven't been to such a good party for a long time. Steve kept the dance floor boppin and poppin all night, we all got cosy and made new friends waiting at the bar and smoked ourselves silly INDOORS. I really wanted to set a up a photo booth in the aquatic area at the back of the stone cave for Alex's birthday but didn't manage it. I wanted to dress Alex and Aida up as mermaids with snorkels and cocktails, the belly dancer would have fitted in quite well thinking about it.

A rather impromptu trip to Fabric at crazy o'clock the other Saturday/Sunday morning to see the Phenomenal hand clap band and a 4 hour set from Eric and James of Rub and Tug fame.Nice one Con for the free passes!Always makes the night a little sweeter and smoother. Have to admit I'm not a huge fan of sprawling clubs but if you're gonna go 4am is a good time cos the crowd filters out to a proper dancing crowd which was really fun.
Anyway, random fact you may not know- Eric Duncan has extremely hairy upper arms.He stood next to me at the bar and I actually woke up thinking about them,strange.
